With installations, drawings, and animations, She create simulacra of natural phenomena. Her sculpture and installations depict life forms and immersive environments crafted out of consumer by-products such as plastic bottles, toilet paper, or cotton swabs. The everyday disposables are reused in fantastical, new ways with energy and humor. In her drawings and animations, She meditate on nature's simple processes to access the sublime and magical. She often make detailed drawings of her subjects before realizing her pieces, a process rooted in the Japanese tradition of finding invention through reflection and study. And vice versa-my drawings serve as a response to the installation and animation works.
She create beautiful images of hope and new life. Simultaneously, mutant over-sized bugs and eternally plastic flowers inhabit these apocalyptic worlds. The scales tip from fun, familiar, and beautiful, to menacing, and back again. In her own visual language She is amplifying a synthetic nature generated by the evolution of human beings.
